Internships
Education Law Center (ELC) seeks second and third year law students for summer internships and semester externships. Law student interns/externs will assist with legal and policy advocacy on issues such as: promoting fair school funding and school desegregation; opposing private school vouchers and other education privatization; and enforcing antidiscrimination rights, access to educational resources, and protection from exclusionary discipline for students of color, students with disabilities, LGBTQI students, English learners, immigrant students, and others. Interns/externs will be exposed to and support the multiple strategies ELC employs in its work, including impact litigation, direct representation, rigorous research, policy and legislative advocacy, communications, strategic partnerships, and public engagement.
Internships and externships will be mainly remote, with regular supervision and mentorship; participation in meetings with staff, clients, co-counsel, and advocacy partners; and opportunities for in-person interaction with ELC staff. Applicants should send a cover letter, resume, transcript (can be unofficial), and legal writing sample to Theresa Luhm, Esq., tluhm@edlawcenter.org. Positions will be filled on a rolling basis.
