Join the Fight to Stop Trump and Elon Musk and Protect Public Education and Civil Rights

Earlier this week, ELC, representing the NAACP and public school parents, filed a landmark lawsuit in partnership with the National Education Association (NEA), Student Defense, and AFSCME Maryland Council 3 to stop the Trump Administration’s aggressive and reckless push to dismantle the U.S. Department of Education, part of an orchestrated, destructive goal of Elon Musk and his DOGE team to slash critical programs across government.
While our legal battle to protect federal education funding and civil rights is now underway, we need your support to continue the fight.
Shutting down the Department puts millions of vulnerable students at risk, especially those from low-income families, English learners, homeless students, and students in rural communities who rely on federal support. It jeopardizes more than 400,000 educator jobs, eliminates oversight of federal education funding, threatens crucial protections for 7.5 million students with disabilities, and leaves millions of students vulnerable to discrimination.
ELC – the only national legal nonprofit organization in the U.S. dedicated exclusively to protecting preK-12 public education and the rights of students – is working tirelessly to stop Trump and Musk and preserve public education as a cornerstone of our democracy.
Donate now to help us stop these unlawful actions and defend students, families, and educators nationwide.
