Former U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel A. Cardona to Keynote ELC’s 16th Annual Education Justice Lecture: “Protecting Public Education During the Trump Administration”

Join Education Law Center virtually on Monday, June 30, at 4:30 p.m. ET for the rescheduled 16th annual Education Justice lecture. We are honored to welcome U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel A. Cardona, Ed.D., a lifelong educator and national leader committed to advancing equity and expanding opportunities for all students.

If you registered for the lecture originally scheduled for May 19, there is no need to reregister.

Secretary Cardona is an American leader, educator, husband, and proud father of two. He was nominated by President Joe Biden and sworn into office as the 12th United States Secretary of Education on March 2, 2021. Throughout his 27-year career in education, Secretary Cardona has focused on improving educational access and equity—from his own classroom of fourth-grade students to the 65 million students across the nation.

His keynote remarks will address the threats facing public education under the second Trump Administration and his vision for advancing equal educational opportunity and racial justice for school children across the nation. The presentation will be followed by a panel discussion with ELC Trustees Laura Jiménez and Shital C. Shah, who formerly served at the U.S. Department of Education. The event will be moderated by ELC Executive Director Robert Kim and will conclude with an audience Q&A session.

The Education Justice Lecture is ELC’s annual fundraiser. Because all of our services are provided free of charge, we depend on your generous contributions to continue our vital work in support of educational opportunity and justice for public school students. Please support our efforts by purchasing an ad in our event journal or by making a donation

Please contact ELC Program Assistant Kaitlyn Comesañas with any questions about the event.
