ICYMI: ELC’S 6-PART SERIES ON GOVERNOR CHRISTIE’S UNFAIR SCHOOL FUNDING PLAN

Since Governor Chris Christie announced his proposal to provide every public school student in New Jersey with the same amount of state aid, regardless of student, school or community need, Education Law Center has documented the many ways in which the Governor’s scheme is unfair and unworkable.

In case you missed it, below are links to ELC’s six-part series debunking the Governor’s school funding myths and exposing the extreme harm to schoolchildren and communities the proposal would cause. Given ELC’s long history of standing up for NJ’s most disadvantaged students, special attention is paid to the impact of extensive state aid cuts on these children’s educational opportunities and academic futures:

THE GOVERNOR IS WRONG ON HOW MUCH DISTRICTS SPEND

ELC urges education and children’s rights advocates and community activists to share this series and engage in the important work of exposing Governor Christie’s school funding plan for what it is – a clear attempt to return NJ to a deplorable system of public education in which affluent communities boast excellent schools and struggling communities are unable to provide their children with the opportunities they need to succeed in school and in life.
