Making the Grade: Advocating for Fair School Funding in the States
Late last year, Education Law Center released the newest edition of Making the Grade: How Fair is School Funding in Your State?, the annual report on the condition of school finance across the country. This year’s edition warns that too many states are not fairly funding their public schools, while the Trump administration’s threats to reduce federal education funding and dismantle the U.S. Education Department could weaken equity in nearly all states.
Join ELC on Monday, March 2, at 2 p.m. ET for a webinar entitled Making the Grade: Advocating for Fair School Funding in the States for an overview of the report’s findings and a discussion with state advocates on how to use report data to push for school funding reforms.
Danielle Farrie, the report’s lead author, will discuss the latest data and contextualize the report’s findings within the complex and uncertain federal policy landscape. She will be joined by Kris Nordstrom, Senior Policy Analyst at the North Carolina Justice Center, and DeAndrea Byrd, IDRA Education Policy Fellow–Georgia. Kris and DeAndrea will share how they use research and data to advocate for school funding improvements in their states. The webinar will be moderated by Robert Kim, ELC Executive Director. The event will conclude with an audience Q&A.
