What: Donald Trump and Project 2025 want a federal private school voucher program, but on Election Day voters in three different states rejected public funds for private education. ELC’s Public Funds Public Schools was at the forefront of the fight during Trump 1.0 (including beating back Betsy DeVos’s attempt to divert over $1 billion to private schools), and we’ll do the same beginning in 2025.   • What Do We Do Now? Money Matters More Than Ever So States Can Make the Grade!

When: December 2024

Who: Dr. Danielle Farrie, ELC Research Director, author of Making the Grade, and invited guests

What: Dr. Farrie will unveil Making the Grade 2024, which ranks all 50 states and the District of Columbia on school funding. Discussion will also focus on threats to adequate and equitable school funding in the states and from the federal government going forward.

What: ELC has always worked to protect and expand the rights of public school students who face discrimination on the basis of race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, language, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, immigrant or migrant status, or disability. With threats to students’ rights coming directly from the Trump administration, it’s imperative to discuss what can be done to shield and defend children and young people
